Dare to discover what lies within

The question is… ‘Do I persist with Ordinary, or Create a Life with Meaning, Purpose & Fulfilment’?

If life was as simple as keeping ourselves in good health, then we would all have it mastered.     But the reality is that Wellbeing is way more than our health.    Being serious about our Wellbeing means that we must also be take into account how our finances are impacting our lives. What’s happening within our family, how our relationship with our partner is going, & still it is much more than that.   It’s what I call the wheel of life.

Rather than answering the question about how your health is going, a more important question is “How is your Wellbeing” ………. Or how are you feeling about life?    When you look at the individual areas in your life and get a feel for how each area is impacting your overall Wellbeing, then you have the opportunity for improvement.

The Japanese have a word for this… ‘Kaizen’ (continuous improvement).    To deal with the whole picture can be quite overwhelming. But when you break it into smaller chunks, it is much easier to pinpoint the areas to work on and improve overall Wellbeing.  Just like if you are playing any sort of sport, achieving your goals is much easier when you have a coach helping you move towards it.

Thinking about it

Taking the time now to think about it, I wonder what life is like in all of your areas of your life, & if it is going just the way you want it?

A great question for you to consider would be “What is working in my life & what is not working, or how would I know if I am making any progress with the commitment that I have made to myself for achieving a better life”?

As you are embarking on a journey on self-improvement, take a moment to record just where life is at right now for you.

When you are looking at how your wellbeing is going, there is a powerful tool for taking a snapshot of how well you are going.    Our lives can be broken down into a few main areas of focus, that when you do the quick exercise, instantly gives an overall picture of where you are at and what areas need some attention to improve your wellbeing.

Personal Development – The major areas in our lives:

It has been my experience that when we are working on improving an area of our lives, it also affects the quality of the other areas of our lives.     There’s a saying that says, ‘What we do in anything is what we do in everything’.

So, go ahead and take the time now to fill out the exercise below and file it away. In twelve months’, time after you have worked on some improvements, do the same exercise, and pull out the old one to gauge the difference. Of course, you can do this more often if you choose.

 

Personal Development – So how does it work?
